Lane Yates formed Yates Development in 1999 and leads its development work. He is also broker-in-charge of Yates Realty Inc..

He began Salisbury Village on Jake Alexander Boulevard in 2004, pairing 192 apartment homes with retail outparcels, and sold Pad 4 to Discount Tire in 2009. In 2022 the firm brought a portfolio of nine homes and duplexes to market for $1.35 million.

In 2009 he told the Salisbury Post that marketing was key to Salisbury’s future, and that so was “deploying today’s technology on all levels.”
